The ’07 Poison Series is a seven-cake Lunar New Year commemorative. Though each cake is comprised of material from seven different puerh regions, the differences are negligible. This is because the series is stored in a single cloth-padded gift box where the aromas commingle. It has been been stored in Guangdong under very obviously warm and humid conditions. However no humidity is evident in the taste, but apparent given the high degree of transformation for an ’07 production.
The virtues of the storage cannot be overstated, neither can the uniqueness of this production in terms of the 6FTM house style. In this regards it shares company with their Yiwu Laoshu, also Guangdong stored. These conditions release the sugars much more early than under Kunming conditions. It also enhances the mineral attributes evident in productions that more than just mid-aged but in their second decade of transformation.
Poison is a zesty glory, a real camphor forward treasure with undertones of woody mesquite char and peat, with touches of bitterness to balance all that sugar. Stored in Los Angeles since Jul ’20. 357g.
