This cake is the most gently pressed among the numerous ’07 CNNP productions encountered.  Looking around in the gaiwan, there are some big-time stems.  The aroma is gives off a muted aroma of honey, indicative of its age.  The broth is a thick hay sweet with a quick and light note of camphor.  Crystal clear and the most genteel of the 07 selections in the CNNP collection.   Little astringency and no bitterness.  Tastes like a tame version of the apricot syrup that you get from a can.

The history of the CNNP puerh brand is one that causes a great deal of confusion for Western buyers.  From 2012 most all productions under this brand are from the #1 Kunming Tea Factory.   Productions before ’06 are difficult to authenticate because of productions weren’t date-stamped.  Unless otherwise stated, all Puerh Junky’s CNNP offerings are authentic Kunming Factory productions.

The little less than a year and a half of storage has revealed this production to be grossly undervalued.  It’s thickness, durability, gentility, and sweetness epitomize a certain expression that is more than genteel and thicker than Zen.  This production is not for those who like loud music.  It’s the sound of the shakuhachi and the taste of a early winter medow bracing for the cold.  The cake itself really looks like hell.  Late autumn material for certain and hella precious trees.  It is so thick and so removed from any remote suggestion of bitterness.
