’06 “55”– Gold Bud Edition
Price range: $26.40 through $168.00
Rose, vetiver, myrrh, cedar.
Step into the aromatic world of Near Eastern monasteries with the ’06 “55” ripe puerh brick. Petrichor mingles with ancient trade-route treasures—rose, vetiver, myrrh, and cedar—creating a deeply evocative brew. Bold bitter chocolate anchors the profile, evolving into a huigan-rich attar with tannins that linger in the throat for an eternity.
Later infusions reveal smoked hickory and camphor, adding subtle sweetness without losing the tea’s signature intensity. Expect hella bitterness, hella attar, hella tannins, and a hella roasted finish. Clarity remains excellent throughout, with ascendant qi that warms the body and numbs the face.
Thanks to light fermentation, the “55” flavor profile continues to deepen over time. Seasoned drinkers familiar with Zhongcha’s classic 7581—the Frank Sinatra of ripe puerhs—will recognize this cake’s superior expression, enhanced by a profusion of golden buds.
Dry stored in Kunming. Purchased between ’17-’19 and stored in Los Angeles.
