Peach Tropicale

Alluring peach vapors comingle with light incense and coconut in Peach Tropicale.  Neither peach nor berry, an intense sweetness glides down the tongue and through the gullet.  A glossy residue thickly coats its course.  The effect linger, leaving effects of peaches, coconut, raisin, and incense.  Later infusions suggest a grapefruit juice backend with the upfront peach.   Mouthfeel?  Divinely smooth, before the perfect astringency activates the entire mouth, tongue, throat, and lips.  Salivation kicks in with a remarkable throat yun. Retro-nasal peaches, coconut, rounded out with sandalwood at the end.  Extremely filling.

Bangwei is a village nestled in Lancang Prefecture a stone’s throw from Jingmai.  Peach Tropicale originates from the private wild gardens held by LCGC.  Described as spring tea from both ancient (gu) and old (lao) trees.  Compared to an ’05 wild offering, this offering excels on every front.  It possesses the same peach, but SL’s intensity of texture, sweetness, and huigan indicate a great difference in the quality of the raw material between the two. The former “wild” likely consists of a wild from abandoned trees, which differs from SL‘s wild.  The best way to tell the difference is by tasting.
