’06 Cherub’s Bile
Price range: $23.40 through $138.00
Creamy with exotic fruit and herbal compliments.
Anise and strawberry rise from the cup, gliding into a sweet vanilla broth before the Cherub’s Bile tantrum kicks in. The liquor coats the mouth and throat with a slick, creamy texture that quickly sharpens into fruit‑sour astringency. Made from Banzhang material, this Batch 603 date‑stamp version belongs to the first two productions that used a completely different wrapper design.
Among the Xinghai offerings in the collection, Cherub’s bile might be the creamiest, though cream never dominates the profile. Later infusions rival the intensity of classic bitter‑nail teas, delivering a gripping, disciplined bitterness that experienced drinkers prize. Kunming storage has kept the cake remarkably clean while allowing steady transformation—no humidity, no muddiness, just clear, honest aging.
Stored in Los Angeles since Feb ’23, it now shows the poise and depth expected from well‑handled Banzhang‑area raw material.
