‘06 Boisterous Lambic

Price range: $11.40 through $68.00

Boisterous berry punch with a Belgian‑lambic tang and lightly smoky depth. Fruity, lively, and richly expressive.

Frontend smoke accompanied by dried fruit citric-acid sour jumping out in the nose.  Bold cherry attitude blends with smoky whispers in the wet leaves.  A shade more moderate dried-fruit sweetness mingles with the vaunted pencil shavings effect, gentle aged impression.  A fruit punch of yesteryear where sourness gets tempered in slightly smoky oak casks.  Astringency and fruity sourness build.  Oily camphor notes along a light backdrop of hickory make an appearance.  By this time, the serious mouth-drying effect sets in.

Fruity mountain berry heicha character with a boozy finish.  Evocative of the Belgian lambics without the fizz but all the boisterousness and subdued sweetness. According medium viscosity.  The smoky accent adds a depth.  Aroma heavily coats empty cup, and the broth is crystal clear.  Surprisingly warming qi.

Cakes pressed with moderate intensity, so many of the leaves maintain integrity.  Waking the cake by removing from storage for just 24hrs remedied the paralyzing astringency.  Raw material comes from Menghai, which is uncharacteristically vague for this factory.  A nice everyday drinker.  Second batch. Clean dry storage.  Stored in Los Angeles since Jul ’23.
